What Crate Source is
Crate Source is a music discovery tool. It searches public release metadata and plays recordings through official third-party embedded players. We do not host, store, download, or process any audio.
Information we collect
Email address (optional). If you enlist in the Ground Crew mailing list, we store the email address you provide and use it to send you updates about Crate Source. We use Omnisend to manage this list. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email.
Session data (on your device).Your crate history, cue points, streaks, and preferences are stored in your browser's localStorage. This data stays on your device — we do not transmit or store it on our servers.
Flip submissions.If you submit a link to the community flip gallery, we store the URL and the display handle you choose. Don't submit personal information in your handle.
Technical logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) collects standard request logs (IP address, user agent) for security and rate limiting. We do not use analytics trackers or advertising cookies.
Third-party services
Crate Source uses YouTube API Services to find and embed recordings. By using Crate Source, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google's handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy. Embedded YouTube players may set cookies and collect data per Google's policies when you interact with them.
Release metadata is sourced from Discogs. Outbound links to Discogs, Spotify, Apple Music, Tracklib, WhoSampled, and SoundCloud take you to those services, which have their own privacy policies.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data. We don't run ads. We don't track you across other sites. We don't download, rip, or store audio from any service.
Data retention & your rights
Mailing-list emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Flip gallery submissions expire automatically after 14 days. To request access to or deletion of your data, email hmukhwana@me.com.
